What are the Young ‘Uns Awards 2016?

The Young ‘Uns Awards 2016 will celebrate the young entrepreneurial, professional and business talent that the Lancashire region has to offer!

When will the awards take place and where?

The Young ‘Uns Awards 2015 will take place on 20 October 2016 at Spanish Ballroom, Winter Gardens, Blackpool.

Entry process

When do the Awards open for entry?

Entries will open on 20 April 2016 and close at midnight on 2 September 2016.

When is the closing date for entries?

All entries must be received by midnight 2 September 2016.

What are the award categories?

There are 12 individual awards and one business award up for grabs. To see a full list, please click here

How many categories can I enter?

You can enter up to a maximum of four categories.

What makes me eligible to enter the awards?

To be eligible, you must be working for a business based within the current Lancashire county boundaries. For clarity, this means you must be sited in one of the following districts or unitary boroughs:

  • Blackburn with Darwen
  • Blackpool
  • Burnley
  • Chorley
  • Fylde
  • Hyndburn
  • Lancaster
  • Pendle
  • Preston
  • Ribble Valley
  • Rossendale
  • South Ribble
  • West Lancashire
  • Wyre

You must be aged 36 or under on 20 October 2016 (the big night) to enter.

What are the Young ‘Un Awards rules?

The following rules apply:

  • Entrants must be aged 36 or under when the awards take place – 20 October 2016
  • The organisers reserve the right to amend or remove award categories
  • The organisers reserve the right to re-assign an entry to another category
  • Entrants acknowledge and agree that material from entry forms may be used in the event brochure and other marketing materials
  • Entrants should mark as confidential any elements of their entry they do not wish to be used for the event brochure or other marketing materials

How do I enter the Awards?

Entry is through the online entry forms only available on the website until 2 September 2016.

What is the best way to enter the awards?

We suggest that you save your entry in to a document and then paste your answers in to the entry form.

Do I have to stick to the word count limits?

Yes. Any text that exceeds the word count will not be counted as part of your entry.

What happens when I submit my entry?

You will receive an email confirmation so you can be sure we have received your entry form safe and sound.

Awards Judging

When does the award judging take place?

All written entries will be scrutinised by our judging panel and the finalists will be announced on 12 September 2016.

Who will be on the judging panel?

The Young ‘Uns Awards 2016 are judged by panels made up of independent business experts and sponsors.

When will the shortlist be announced?

The shortlist will be announced on 12 September 2016. An email will be sent to the email address provided on your entry form. The email will contain important information about the judging day where you asked to meet our judging panel.

It will also be announced on the Young ‘Uns Awards and Lancashire Business View websites.

Please note: The decisions of the judges will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.

Awards Dinner

When and where is the Awards ceremony?

The Young ‘Uns Awards 2016 will take place on 20 October 2016 at the Spanish Ballroom, Winter Gardens Blackpool.

What can I expect on the night?

There’ll be a special theme with great food, entertainment and music.

How do I book a table at the 2016 Awards?

Tickets and tables will be available to book on the Young ‘Uns Awards 2016 website shortly.

Should I book a table even if I do not know all guest names yet?

Absolutely! All details of guests, including dietary requirements can be provided closer to the event date.

What is the dress code for the evening?

Black tie

What if I have a specific dietary requirement?

Once a booking has been made, details of how to notify of us any dietary requirements will be sent directly to you.

Do you provide invitations for businesses to send out to their guests?

As the Young ‘Uns Awards 2016 is a non-ticketed event, this will not be possible.
